With over 20 years experience of personally looking after my own pets (cats, guinea pigs, fish, chickens, snake and stick insects!) I also have a BSc Degree in Animal Science and Management. I have previously worked for several local authorities as Dog Warden and Animal Control Officer which lead to me gaining various qualifications that were dog related including First Aid for Dogs. I am also fully insured and have had a recent DBS check.

At the moment we have two lovely cats called Magic and Willow which we adopted in April 2010 as their owners were emigrating. We decided to give the brother and sister a home after our beloved old boy passed away at the grand old age of 18 earlier that year. Our home just seemed empty without a feline friend to share it with.

We also have our American Corn Snake, called Colin! (photo at the top of the page) He was found under a rubbish bag when I was working as Animal Control Officer for the local council. When we were unable to find his owner, we decided to give him a home with us. Other than knowing he is in adult, we have no idea how old he is, but we have now had him in our family since 2003.

And finally we have “The Ladies”. I have 8 hens that roam the garden and lay us eggs (most of the time!) chickens. I find my ladies fascinating and relatively easy to look after. They are pets and egg layers and thankfully they are the wrong breed for meat, not sure I would ever be able to eat a chicken I’d looked after!!!
